The first set of Champions League knockout fixtures produced, well, mixed results. Some games are left on a knife edge, they will be exciting and brilliant second legs when the teams meet again. They are going to be great games that should thrill and excite everyone watching them. There are some giant clubs and players that are left fighting it out and it will be a great joy to watch them clash. Other ties though, they are dead in the water, they are basically done. It would take more than miracles for them becoming interesting again. We can say it, some teams are through, they did their jobs in the first leg and will cruise through the second ones. It can be quite hard to do football predictions, but in the case of those games, it is rather easy. However, in terms of betting, no game is ever over after the first leg as there are always things you can bet on. There is much more to have a flutter on that just who is going to win the tie, you can look at who is going to be first scorer, who is going to have most corners, how many cards will there be. That is the beauty of football betting, although there are some pitfalls to avoid. In that spirit, we thought it would be interesting to explore each leg, even if the tie seems, on the surface to be dead. PSG vs Real Madrid (6th March)

Having won the first leg 3-1, the reigning champions Real Madrid will be confident of going through against the most expensively assembled side in history. However, PSG have some superb players, have the home crowd behind them and have their back against the wall. The best tip for this game would be to bet on PSG to win the match but not the tie. I think they will squeak a win but not by enough to knock Madrid out.

Liverpool vs Porto (6th March)

This is one of those ties that is dead, Liverpool won the first leg 5-0 and Porto are not going to grab five goals at Anfield. What they might do though, is fight hard to restore pride to the team and get a creditable result. Liverpool will also likely rest players, so go for the draw.

Man City vs FC Basel (7th March)

City ravaged Basel in Switzerland hitting four and taking the game away from them. Pep Guardiola is not a manager who wants his team to take their foot off the pedal so expect City to win again. They will want to send a message to the rest of Europe so City to score three or more goals seems like a sensible bet.

Tottenham vs Juventus (7th March)

This one is arguably the most exciting tie left in the competition. Two excellent teams are delicately poised after a 2-2 draw in Italy. Tottenham will then be slight favourites as they are playing at home, but Juventus have so much experience of tight European games, so I would say, put your money on Juventus to squeak though, perhaps a 2-1 win.

Roma vs Shakhtar Donetsk (13th March)

This one was 2-1 to the Ukrainian side when they met last week and should be a barnstormer of a game. It is so well poised but Shakhtar are not the best travellers and Roma are very good at home. I think this one could well be an exact reverse, 2-1 to Roma and then go to extra time where the Italian side will win and knock out Shkatar.

Manchester United vs Sevilla (13th March)

0-0 in Spain, just the way Mourinho likes it. A simple 1-0 win will take United through, they are strong at home in Europe so put your money on the Red Devils.

Besiktas vs Bayern (14th March)

Bayern romped home in Munich winning 5-0 and will ease through to the next round. But with a likely rotated squad and a fired up home crowd, betting on Besiktas to win the game but not the tie makes the most sense.

Barcelona vs Chelsea (14th of March)

Up there with Spurs Juventus as the best game of the this round. It is tough to see past the Spanish giants but it will be close, a 2-1 Barcelona win is the best way to go.
